New for 2022, Surf 'n Turf is a non-competitive event, with bikepacking at the core. A set start location within Llandovery, with safe parking provided, and a camping location right behind Llanrhystyd beach, on the Ceredigion coast, will make it will be a weekend to remember.
There is no set route, and all bikes are welcome, but we will provide multiple route options that you can choose to follow, or simply make your own way to the camping location.
We will have at least 5 routes for on-road and off-road, in each direction. There will be off-road riding routes aimed primarily at gravel bikes, but also some that are more adventurous, more suited to mountain bikes or some riders who are more adventurous themselves. For road riders, the options are endless, with a vast amount of smaller roads, big climbs and some of the most famous climbs in Wales and the UK.
The shortest distance will be 60 kilometres each day, with a minimum of 1000 metres of climbing. For those looking for a bigger challenge, options are endless, with a few longer routes that will include riding within the Elan Valley and over the Cambrian Mountains.
There is an optional luggage service to give riders who may not have the kit to enable them to carry everything, or potentially have some elements that will be too large. There is a size and weight limit, but one example - a standard inflatable SUP board & paddle is OK. There is also the additional option of family parking and camping if you want to make a family weekend and meet your family at the camping location.
